- 1 block of extra firm tofu
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp pepper
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1-2 tbsp cornstarch
- 1 tbsp canola/avocado/olive oil
Preheat a convection oven to 425° (you can also use an air fryer or standard oven). Combine all the dry ingredients in a large bowl
Pat the tofu dry and rip into small chunks using your hands (the smaller the pieces, the crispier they'll get)
Toss the tofu in the dry mix, then drizzle oil on top and toss the tofu again. Place tofu on a parchment paper-lined pan with space in between the pieces
Bake for about 20 minutes or until the tofu reaches desired crispiness (this might be less time in an air fryer and probably closer to 30 minutes in a standard oven). You can also flip the pieces halfway through cooking to help even the crispiness
My toaster oven is just a small convection oven, so I use that and I've had great success with this.
Tofu bites based loosely on the recipe at the link. I use these to replace chicken in salads or also to just eat out of the fridge in the dead of night.
